Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026. Please read these terms carefully before using Trade What You Have.

Plain-language summary: Trade What You Have connects people who want to swap goods. You own your listings, trades happen directly between users, and we're not responsible for individual trade outcomes. Be honest, be safe, and don't list anything illegal.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Trade What You Have ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform. We may update these terms from time to time — continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Platform. By registering, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate, current, and complete. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

3. How Trades Work

Trade What You Have is a peer-to-peer trading platform. We facilitate connections between users who wish to exchange goods — no money changes hands through the Platform. All trade agreements are made directly between users. We are not a party to any trade and bear no responsibility for the outcome of individual exchanges.

4. Prohibited Items & Conduct

You may not list or trade illegal items, counterfeit goods, weapons, hazardous materials, or anything that violates applicable law. You may not use the Platform to harass, defraud, or harm other users. Listings must be accurate — misrepresenting an item's condition or value is grounds for account suspension.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of content you post (listings, photos, messages). By posting, you grant Trade What You Have a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that content on the Platform. You are solely responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe third-party rights.

6. Verification & Trust

Our verification badges (Email Verified, Identity Verified, Trusted Trader, Top Trader) reflect information provided by users and third-party services. Verification does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee of a user's trustworthiness. Always exercise your own judgement before agreeing to a trade.

7. Limitation of Liability

Trade What You Have is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including losses resulting from trades gone wrong, data loss, or service interruptions.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or harm the community — with or without prior notice. You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Trade What You Have operates. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and failing that, through binding arbitration.
